Director: Susie Nelson Smith

Susie Nelson-Smith is the Director of The Karyna Centre for Transformation and is based in Sydney, Australia. Susie brings her passion and fascination for life and its mysteries to every aspect of her teaching, performing and personal life. Since the age of 12, she has been a student of religion, spirituality and the esoteric mysteries. She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English Literature, History and Philosophy in 1984 and a Post Graduate degree in Communication Management in 1991. She worked as Chief Executive Officer of a Training Centre for specially disadvantaged and long term unemployed people for 12 years and was a Justice of the Peace for 20.

A practicing Natural Therapist for over 40 years, Susie shares her love and passion for sound, crystals and transformation by teaching and guiding people to activate their own inner wisdom. Susie teaches professional 12 month courses in Crystal Sound Therapy (CST) with crystal bowls (accredited with EHA), Crystal Vibrational Therapy (CVT) using crystals and gems (accredited with EHA) and the three levels of Usui Reiki Hands-on Healing – Shoden, Reiki 1, Okuden, Reiki 2 and Shinpiden Reiki Teacher/Master. In 2011 Susie will be teaching a bridging course taking her professional accredited programs from Certificate IV to Diploma.

Susie initially studied and graduated as a Teacher of Crystal Healing from the Crystal Academy of Advanced Healing Arts with Katrina Raphaell in Hawaii and has been teaching since 1995. Over the years Susie has revised and expanded the course and in 2004 began teaching the current Crystal Vibrational Therapy (CVT) 12 month accredited professional study program.

Initiated as a Reiki Teacher/Master on the island of Kauai in 1995, Susie’s love for practising and teaching the simple and profoundly beautiful energy of Reiki continues to express itself in all her work.

The transforming effect of sound and crystal vibrations on the body and psyche led Susie to travel to Sicily in 1998 where she immersed herself in crystal energy, participating in a crystal bowl workshop and teaching crystal healing throughout Italy. Returning in 1999 to continue teaching, Susie taught crystal healing in Sicily, Lugarno, Torino (Turin) and Tuscany and crystal sound meditations with crystal bowls in Torino.

Susie has travelled extensively and has taught her range of specialties and performed unique Crystal Sound Concerts in Australia and overseas in places such as New Caledonia, Italy, the USA – Hawaii, California, Oregon, Vermont and Vancouver in Canada.

In 2007 Susie met American Sound Therapist and Director of the Healing Music Organization – Amrita Cottrell. Together they decided to teach the Crystal Sound Therapy course in the USA. The first course was taught on the island of Kauai, Hawaii and in the following year a larger group of students joined Susie and Amrita on the Oregon coast for PART 1 – a 12 day retreat. In 2009, Susie returned to teach Part 2 with Amrita and joined the students once again in Oregon for 5 more days plus the student concert. Performed in the local town of Yachats, the concert was a sell out and saw students perform and play 35 crystal bowls together.

Susie has created and produced three crystal bowl CDs – “Opening the heart to compassion”, “Opening the heart to JOY” and “Opening the heart to LOVE”.  Her 4^th and 5^th CDs are currently being edited and will be released in 2011. The focus of the 4^th CD called “One Heart meditations” is to gently develop consciousness leading the listener towards a greater sense of Oneness. The 5^th CD, “Gently into the Light” is a musical journey guiding the listener inward to the place they call peace and in the stillness find it easier to feel a deeper connection with the Divine..

Susie’s CD “Opening the heart to LOVE ” was released on the Crystal Tones label in the USA in 2011.

Trained and qualified in Aromatherapy, Swedish and Remedial Massage and Reflexology, Susie integrates Holistic and Spiritual Counselling, Meditation and Stress Management techniques, Colour Therapy, Vision Enhancement and Relationship Support using her full range of healing modalities in workshops, concerts and her private practice. Her focus is to create an experience of deep transformation with love and respect using her many healing tools including quartz crystal singing bowls, essential oils, colour, crystals and gems and guided meditations.
